I have decided to lighten the background again. It is about making the contrast lower so that it is friendlier on the eyes. Reading white text off a black background on the screen can affect your eyes. This is especially if read for a while.
Many of the software IDEs support a darker theme, such as Visual Code. It is a little kinder on the eyes whilst writing code. It does lack a wow factor, this is why black text on white is popular online, also more traditional as it was easier to use black ink on lighter paper or parchment. I maintain the grey/white just because it is my prefered IDE settings work software work.
In terms of customer facing screens system colours are tipically used but it depends on the target market.
